10 scary movies perfect for Halloween night

halloween

As you all know, November 1 is approaching, a day that in Spain has always been known as "All Saints Day" but that, as we love the party and adopt any moment of celebration, little by little more is known and more like Halloween, the Anglo-Saxon Celtic festival. That night, the children go out to ring the bells of the houses to ask for sweets and the not so children go out to party, disguised or without disguise. If we disguise ourselves, the ideal is to disguise ourselves as something terrifying, such as a zombie, a murderer or someone murdered. However, now is a good time to recommend some Horror Movies (MUAHAHA!).

Next we are going to recommend 10 slashers "Perfect", in quotes, to see during this week. I put the quotes because in the list there are several horror classics, which may not appeal to teens or old-timers for the effects, lighting, photography, and even dubbing, but the classics on the list are masterpieces. The order of the list may vary, but number one is clear. After the cut you have the whole list and you will understand why number one cannot be another movie. Grab some popcorn and turn off the light ... if you dare ...

1213

Before starting with the list, we must explain what a "Slasher" is: it is known as Slasher to a genre that was born in the 70s where there is a very bloody psycho that is murdering people, one after another. A good slasher is one in which victims are teenagers at times when they are not protected by older people, although it is also possible that the victims are older. It is also interesting that there is sex before deaths, something that they reflect in the Scream saga (you can't die if you're a virgin) and that they have drunk or used drugs.

Another thing that is interesting to mention is something they say in the last Nightmare on Elm Street movie, and that is that these kinds of movies sometimes reflect "the loss of innocence." In other cultures, when a teenager is going to become a man, he has to do something very terrifying, like climb a mountain and face some kind of monster, something that is actually adults of his own family. When he's done he's already a man and everyone knows it. In our culture, a substitute for that experience is horror movies.

10- Final Destination 5 (2011)

final destination

Final destination 5 closes the circle of a saga with many fans. As in all the others, the protagonists they are saved from an accident thanks to the fact that one of them has a premonition and sees their deaths, which makes him warn all his friends to leave the area. But death does not like to be deceived, so he will find a way to put things in their place. If we take into account that death is not a psychopath, we could say that it is not a 100% Slasher, that is why it is in 10th place

In this last film in the saga there are some very good special effects, which makes me choose it from the 5, especially the deaths at the beginning. But also, there is a surprise in the movie that gives goose bumps to those of us who have seen the other four. I don't know why, but that's how it was with me that I'm not a fan of the series, just to see them all in a row. As a comic anecdote, comment on the experience of a brother who dreamed that his plane crashed before catching a plane. My sister-in-law says that she did not speak the whole trip (xD).

9- Clownhouse (1989)

clown house 2

The best idea in the world, that you be afraid of clowns and they take you to a circus. That is what happens in Clownhouse, where Casey's brothers take him to a circus passing through his fear of clowns. But clowns are harmless characters, unless some crazy people have escaped from a madhouse and put themselves in their place ...

8- Prom Night (1980)

prom-night-1

Some children are playing and they do what today we would know as bullying to a girl, who suffers an accident and dies, so they make a pact of silence to never tell anything. That happened when they were 12 years old. 6 years later, the family commemorates the death of the girl on the day of graduation dance. If we put the death anniversary together, with the prom and a homicidal maniac that escapes from prison, what can happen? «there will be blood! "

7- Bloody Valentine (1981)

bloody valentine

Un miner rookie causes an accident in a mine, causing four of those present to die and a fifth to go into a coma. A year later, Harry Warden awakens from his coma and begins to murder people with his pickaxe miner. And 10 years later, he starts killing people again ... on Valentine's Day ...

This movie also has a modern version from 2009 and is called the same, but adding 3D to the title. You may be interested in seeing the modern version for the effects. The beginning is spectacular.

6- I know what you did last summer (1997)

I Know What You Did Last Summer

A group of young people drive home from a party, drinking and laughing, and they run over something. They go back and it was a human being. What are they going to do? They were driving drunk and high! What occurs to them is to get rid of the body and never talk about what happened again. But some time later, someone sends them notes that with the text «I Know What You Did Last Summer«. What at first seems like a bad joke from someone who has broken their pact of silence, turns into a real nightmare when they begin to die.

5- Devil doll (1988)

diabolical doll

With the original title of «Child's Play» («the child's game» or «children's game», let it go with the translations of the titles into Spanish ...) we have the story of a very dangerous criminal who is shot dead in a toy store. The villain knows Voodoo and uses it to transfer his soul to a "Good Guy" brand doll, Chucky. The 6-year-old Andy loves the doll, since he had always loved it and, moreover, it does more than he originally believed. But it does much more, as you can see in the image above. I don't want to do spoilers, but remember that I said that the killer knows how to do Voodoo ...

4- Friday the 13th (1980)

Friday13

Another great classic of those that can squeak if you are very young, but that marked an era. It is a Slasher where the protagonist is Jason Voorhees, who has a disfigured face, does not speak (he does not say anything in any of the films) but is one of the worst psychopaths in the history of cinema. Not in vain, and this is not a Spoiler, they kill him countless times, but he resurrects again and again. What can be scarier than a psychopathic killer that you can't get rid of?

3- A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Nightmare in Elm street

On the third step of the podium we have a timeless classic, if we ignore the pints and some shots. The story takes place in Elm Street, a neighborhood where the villain, Freddy Krueger, abuses the children of the neighborhood. The parents, enraged, take the law into their own hands, cornering Freddy and burning him alive. When he is dying, he warns that he will continue to stalk his children, but where they cannot protect them ... in your dreams…

A movie not recommended for those who dream very intensely. If you don't want to see the old version, you can watch "A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Origin", although I have seen it and I prefer Wes Craven's.

2- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

the-texas-massacre-8

In the second step we have a film that today we could classify as typical of this style, but it is not exactly like that. The Texas massacre is one of the first of its kind, where young people receive the news that the grave of one of their relatives has been desecrated, they go to the cemetery to check if it is okay, it is, and when they decide to return , they have a problem with your car. Young people are having a good time until they start to disappear ...

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is supposed to predate the Slasher style, but since they are young people who are falling one by one, it is on the list.

In the original title appears the word «chainsaw«. I leave it there.

1- Halloween (1978)

Halloween

And at number 1, how could it be otherwise, Halloween. It is in this position by the date the article is written, but it could be anywhere else. It is said that this movie is the one started the genre Slasher and it tells the story of Michael Myers, a mental patient who is locked up in an asylum for having murdered his older sister and escapes to murder his younger sister this time.

Bonus:

Below you have several movies that I recommend watching, even if they are not 100% Slashers, that's why they are not on the list.

  • Saw: This saga is not that it can be classified as Slasher, but Puzzle is one of the bloodiest murderers of all, although he assures that all he wants is to make people learn to value life. Also, John says he doesn't kill anyone because he always gives them a choice.
  • The Collector y The Collection: They are two films where there is a murderer who simply murders and I think he has no motive, or they do not say it in the film (or I do not remember). I recommend them for how gory they are. If you like terror, you will like them.
  • Freddy vs. Jason: How is it possible? Freddy is in dreams and Jason is not. If you ask yourself the same question that I asked myself, I recommend that you watch it. I was very pleasantly surprised and had fun like a dwarf. By the way, it is possible and it makes sense.
  • no one lives (no one lives): A movie in which a brutal psychopath is "calm." On his way, some petty criminals cross him and provoke him. What can happen? Well, "you guys messed with the wrong guy, motherfu *****"
  • The hideously slow murderer with the extremely inefficient weapon: and we leave it with one of fear.
