4 ways to enter the router configuration if we do not remember the password

In most cases, the presence of a router is practically a primary requirement to be able to use the Internet on any personal computer, an accessory that is generally provided by the company that has also offered the service.

Although everything can be perfectly configured, but there are certain situations in which the end user (who has contracted the service) may want to rmake a few modifications within the router configuration, a situation that can be difficult to execute if you do not have the respective access credentials.

Why enter the router configuration?

A specialized technician may find many reasons to be able to carry out this task, although, in certain cases it may only be necessary to enter the router configuration to be able to assign a new password (somewhat friendlier) in Wi-Fi connectivity. Many companies that provide the service usually assign a Wi-Fi password, which can hardly (or should not be) changed by the end user. Next we will mention a few tips and tricks that can be easily adopted, in order to decipher the credentials that will allow us to enter the router configuration.

1. Use default values ​​in credentials

This becomes the first alternative, which should be used by any user before any other. Most manufacturers of these routers tend to use generic credentials, which involves a username "admin" and a password such as "1234", "root" or "blank".

2.RouterPassView

The only reason for the previous process to fail would be given if the service provider technician changed the values ​​of these credentials. If this were the case, there is still the possibility of being able to recover them using a simple tool, which has the name of RouterPassView.

It will try to find the original credentials in an internal file that will probably still be hosted on the computer and which generally has the name "user.conf". This method could fail if we have formatted the computer because with this, inescapably we will have eliminated said file and therefore, it would not be possible to try to recover it easily; Anyway, if it is still present on the computer, this tool will load it and later it will translate to everything that is encrypted to provide us with the data we need to enter the router configuration.

3. Router Password Cracker

This tool provides a method very similar to what is generally offered by applications that try to decrypt both the username and password to access a specific service.

Here it will primarily be about making use of a dictionary or library of options, which means that this tool will begin to try each of the words and passwords which are generally used to protect access to router settings.
