New Standard for USB Type-C Audio Announced

Many were those who cried out to heaven at the news that Apple was going to eliminate the audio jack from its last smartphone to hit the market. After this movement and the criticism received, many have been the companies that have followed this path, even organizations such as the USB-IF, in charge of developing future formats and possible standards together with the main manufacturers of electronic devices, has just announced what they have called the USB Audio Device Class 3.0 or what is the same, the standard for USB Type C audio.

In this way it seems that finally the developers and designers of the new technologies that will reach the market, come together so that, at least for the moment, high-end phones finally eliminate the audio jack. Personally, I have to admit that we are facing an evolution that is more than logical and even, from my point of view, necessary. We have to take into account that precisely the 3,5 mm audio jack was basically the last analog reminiscence within devices that today are completely digital.

USB-IF announces the launch of a new standard for USB Type-C audio.

As Apple announced at the time, not only an increasingly necessary internal space is saved, but now manufacturers can greatly simplify the internal design of all their terminals, optimizing the available space in a more efficient way. Without a doubt, the launch of this new standard for USB Type-C audio is a much needed step for development of a series of terminals that we will see in the market in the short term, although not immediately.

Now, this does not mean that manufacturers are going to be as radical as Apple, even with the purchase of its latest iPhone includes an adapter to continue using the helmets of a lifetime. On the new standard for USB Type-C audio supports both analog and digital connections which means that, through an adapter, we can continue to use our headphones or speakers.
