Atari also joins retro and mini fashion with the Ataribox

Nostalgic welcome, take your tissue boxes, come and see, we are going to talk about an old acquaintance that has been renewed, a Phoenix that has risen from its ashes. As many of you expected, Atari is back in the form of a "mini" console in similarity to Nintendo's colleagues who have also managed to get a lot of performance (financial and advertising) from the way we let ourselves be carried away by nostalgia.

A few days ago Atari revealed a small 20 second "teaser" of what the Atari Mini could be, today we finally reveal the Ataribox, a retro console that will allow you to return to your childhood in one fell swoop. Let's see what the Ataribox hides and why it is monopolizing the covers of the whole world despite its size.

At last they have seen fit to give us some more information, although clearly it is quite insufficient. And it is that they have given us neither a launch date nor a price, just a few hopes to which we will have to hold on very tightly to not perish in the attempt. They will have two models to start with, one with wood finishes like the classic Atari 2600, and one with black and red finishes presumably in glossy plastic (like the PlayStation 4 for example) for the most modern gamers, and for all kinds of rooms.

This console will accept SD cards and count four USB ports at the same time connecting to the TV via an HDMI output like the Nintendo Classic Mini for example. According to information from Atari the console could have WiFi, although they have not explained exactly in what terms. Atari has assured us that this is simply a "candy" to give us an idea of what is to come, of course it is difficult for us to see it before the end of 2017 or the beginning of 2018, but without a doubt we are before the definitive emulator .
