On December 31 Cyanogen will close its doors

Cyanogen

After a time in which, supposedly, those responsible for Cyanogen have been sitting deciding what to do with the company's jurisdiction, apparently the result has been to close the company. Thus, As of December 31, all versions of CyanogenMod will no longer have official support.

Based on the statement that appears on the official website of Cyanogen Inc:

As part of Cyanogen's ongoing consolidation process, all services and nightlies builds supported by Cyanogen will be discontinued no later than December 31, 2016.

The open source project and source code will continue to be available to anyone who wants to develop CyanogenMod personally.

Cyanogen will officially stop offering official support for CyanogenMod as of December 31, 2016.

Basically, what this announcement shows is that, from day 1 of next year, any improvement or development of modifications made in Cyanogen will depend entirely on the user community. On the other hand, it is very clear that the company itself will also stop offering support for this operating system, so it will be the community that also has to offer it.

Finally, tell you that this does not mean that those responsible for the development of this well-known and supported operating system abandon their development work, since as we know they will now focus on the development of a differentiated operating system intended for commercial exploitation. At this point we have to talk about Lineage OS, name by which this new operating system is known, which even already has official website.
