Foxconn, Apple's main maker, announces the death of two workers

Foxconn

Apple is one of the main customers of the manufacturer Foxconn, but it is not the only international manufacturer that relies on this company to assemble its devices. Sony, HP, Microsoft are some of the companies that also collaborate with Foxconn in the manufacture of your devices. The manufacturer Foxconn is back on everyone's lips after the announcement of the death of two workers last week.

Foxconn has always been criticized for harsh working conditions in addition to the high suicide rate that their workers have suffered in recent years. However, Foxconn and Apple (the company's main customer) have received very negative press about it. To avoid this, Apple has always tried to control the production of its devices at all times, controlling the hours that the staff works as well as the working conditions.

But this time we cannot say that the working conditions have to do with the death of these two people. The first Foxconn employee was found last month outside Foxconn's Zhengzhou facility while the second death occurred in a train accident while the worker went to his job. Both employees were from the company's facilities in Zhengzhou, Henan province.

After announcing the death of these workers, Foxconn has issued the following statement:

Our efforts to improve the conditions of our workforce are ongoing and we are determined to do everything we can to anticipate the changing needs of our workforce.

The last documentary that denounced the working conditions of Foxconn employees to the BBC. After its broadcast, Tim Cook claimed to be "deeply offended" by this documentary where you could see the working conditions as well as the company's supply chain. Foxconn is reducing the labor required to assemble the devices it manufactures at its facilities using robots. This year it has already managed to get rid of more than 50.000 employees whose work has been replaced by robots.
