A group of hackers steals more than 85 million Dailymotion accounts

Dailymotion

If you are one of the millions of users of dailymotion, unfortunately today I have bad news to give you as the popular French video streaming service has been hacked and with this attack a single hacker has managed to seize nothing less than more than 85 million credentials of user.

Without a doubt, 2016 is being a year of change, just the moment of inflection where large companies are finally realizing the huge security needs that they need in all their services since, at this point, there is practically no large company left that has not suffered some type of attack, names like LinkedIn, Tumblr, Yahoo ...

Dailymotion suffers the attack of a hacker who manages to get the data of users of 85,2 million accounts.

This time it was the company Leaked Source the one that has just launched a statement where it is noticed that an unknown hacker has managed to steal the access credentials of 85,2 million Dailymotion accounts. Among the data, it should be noted that the author has a unique username and email address for each of these credentials. As for the password, it appears that he has only been able to access one password out of every five accounts stolen. To which must be added that, at least on this occasion, the access passwords were encoded using a secure algorithm so it will be difficult for them to be decrypted.

As often happens with a theft of these characteristics, if you are a Dailymotion user, it is best to log into your account and modify the access data for security. As a reminder, and it is something that has happened on many other occasions, it is recommended that you not only modify the access data of Dailymotion, but of all the services where you use that username and that same password to access.
