India is one of those countries that is betting on renewable energies, thanks to this today they have just inaugurated some new photovoltaic installations in Kumathi, a city within the state of Tamil Nadu, just south of the country. According to reports, the facilities were completed on September 21, although it was not until these days that they came into operation.
Among the most interesting features of the Kamuthi Solar Power Project highlight that it will have a 648 MW capacity on an area of 10 square kilometers, enough to make it the world's largest capacity solar plant located in one place. According to the authorities, this project has been built in just 8 months, enough time to install 2,5 million solar modules spending a budget of 679 million dollars.
Thanks to the Kamuthi facilities, India is positioned as the third largest solar market in the world.
If we put all these data into perspective, we find that these facilities today have the capacity to provide energy to some 150.000 homes in the area. As a detail, tell you that this project is just one point in an aggressive plan where you are looking to achieve power 60 million homes with renewable energy by 2022.
