The Internet connection in Spain, is it still one of the most expensive in Europe?

Internet connection prices ranking in Europe 2017

From some time ago to this part, Internet connections in Spain have improved considerably. The introduction of fiber optics in much of the Spanish territory has made connections to the Network in the country quite fast. Now, although we have improved a lot in speed (at least downloading), the price is another aspect in which we should advance.

And to corroborate this data, through Microsiervos we ran into a study carried out by the company Akamai in which a list has been made with the countries that have an ADSL Internet connection or by cable with speeds equal to or greater than 60 Mbps. And, of course, Spain comes in here. In what position will we be? Let's check it out.

The study has produced a report that includes all the countries of the world. Now, it is true that they have been divided by continents. And in Europe, prices can range from just over 3 euros per month (as is the case in Ukraine) to 52,84 euros in Iceland. In what position would you say Spain is in this ranking? Well exactly in position number 7 with an average of 33,99 euros. That is, there will always be someone who pays more than you. But, has the per capita income of each country been taken into account? An average salary in Spain is not the same as in Germany or France, to give 3 examples.

Therefore, it can be said that Spain is not one of the countries that sells the most expensive Internet connection, but it is not one of the cheapest either. Likewise, the study is accompanied by another graph in which all the countries of the world can be seen reflected. Here things change modestly. And it is that Spain, for example, stays in the middle of the graph. That is, it has a quality of service and a final price that is neither good nor bad; It is a middle ground between all world markets - we will look on the positive side in that there are always worse than you.

Now, if we have to talk about good prices and quality of service, this last graph clarifies everything. The undisputed kings of this study are Romania, South Korea and Finland; in counterpart we have Iran, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.

Don't you agree that things have improved? Calm because We will show you that prices have dropped compared to studies from other years. And we will do so with data that the European Commission itself has on its website.

average price internet connection spain 2015

If we go back to 2015, the average price of an Internet connection in Spain was 46,5 euros, thus placing it in the second position of the most expensive Internet connections in Europe. Also, this would apply to Internet connections with download speeds between 30 and 100 Mbps not including anything extra. That is, something that is very similar to what Akamai has shown us in their study.
