The Redmond-based company could stop serving the Russian capital. According to Bloomberg, Moscow will begin to replace Microsoft products with national software, as a result of Vladimir Putin's insistence to stop relying on foreign technology, it is special from all that comes from the United States. Chief Technology Officer Artem Yermolaev told reporters that the first service to stop working will be Microsoft Exchange and Outlook, which will be replaced in 6.000 computers by software from the Russian company Rostelecom.

But this is only the tip of the iceberg, since in the future, the authorities want to implement the national software to manage email on more than 600.000 computers distributed throughout the country. They could even replace both Windows and Office although at the moment, according to the announcement by the technology minister, there are no plans in this regard.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been appealing to companies and entities to put at his disposal an offer that would allow them to work as they have done before and stop depending on American software. Lack of confidence in American software not only affects Microsoft but also Google and Apple they have had different problems in the country due to the alleged spying of their applications and operating system.

It all started with the Crimean crisis, in which the international community ran against Russia, and the first threats began to arrive from Russia to both Europe and the United States. To try to stop the advance of American products in the country, Putin wants to increase taxes on American companies that operate within the country.

Little by little, the Russian government seems to be following in the footsteps of China, trying to have controlled at all times all the information that circulates on the internet and devices that can pose a threat to the government. It should be remembered that a couple of years ago, the country's government decided to replace all iPads with Samsung tablets, as they claimed that iOS had a back door that allowed the American authorities to access information stored on any device.
