If you want to get into virtual reality, we currently have several options on the market. On the one hand, we can buy glasses in which we have to use our smartphone, which produces a very little immersive feeling, as well as little interactive. Or you can choose to buy one of the expensive dedicated equipment such as the one offered by Oculus or HTC Vive.
But if we have a PlayStation 4, we are just halfway to the cost of glasses that we have to include the mobile phone and a complete virtual reality equipment. I'm talking about the PlayStation VR, the virtual reality glasses that Sony released for the PS4 almost two years ago.
The price, since its launch, of the PlayStation VR is 399 euros. Despite not being exactly cheap, they are not expensive without buying them with the HTC and Oculus equipment, during their first year on the market, the Japanese company has sold more than one million units. In an attempt to democratize virtual reality, Sony has lowered the price of the PlayStation VR by 100 euros, so we can buy them for 299 euros.
If Sony had already sold a large number of PlayStation VR so far, with this new reduction, the number of sales is likely to skyrocket, at least until the company launches a second generation. As a general rule, when a company plans launch a new product on the market, to get rid of the stock it may have, the first thing it does is lower its price and this move could be the official confirmation that a new generation of PlayStation VR is yet to come.
The new price of the Playstation VR is available from today, so if you were waiting for a price reduction to get them, now may be the time.
