A few days ago we informed you of the confirmation by WhatsApp to stop offering its messaging service on the oldest devices on the market, among which we find terminals with Android 2.2, 2.3 and 3.0, due to the security problems offered by these platforms and that from the application was an insurmountable obstacle. Now it is Telegram who through his blog has made the same announcement, but without prior notice, something that users who wanted to depend on Telegram would not like when WhatsApp announced a few months ago that it was throwing in the towel on these very old versions.
From now on Telegram, like WhatsApp, will require at least Android 4.0 or later. Keep in mind that the market share of users who continue to use such old versions of Android barely exceeds 1,4%, a very low figure taking into account the fragmentation that this operating system suffers, and that in figures represents about 20 million devices. This process is common in the world of software where the requirements of operating systems to function properly are increasing, something that was not possible in these old versions of Android.
If you do not have another terminal at hand, and you have no choice but to continue with your old Android, the only thing you can do is make use of the service via the web, a service that is logically much slower and will not offer us information about the notifications of the chats where we are. Something that we cannot do with WhatsApp and its happy web service that instead of offering greater comfort to users, hinders it enormously.
