The DGT is already studying the arrival of the autonomous car in Spain

The arrival of the autonomous car is imminent. We have already learned that Uber is practicing in California, while other companies such as BlackBerry or Google have full permission to roam freely in the Canadian capital. And it is that we cannot impede the advancement of technology due to the outdated regulation, thus, the General Directorate of Traffic in Spain is already working to pave the way for autonomous driving in Spain. In this way the saying is ratified: "prevention is better than cure". Although we must bear in mind that the DGT team is going to lose a large part of its income with the arrival of the autonomous car (yes, we are talking about fines).

Gizmodo tells us that Spain is one of the countries where the legal integration of autonomous cars has grown the most. However, there is still a lot of work to be done, we are not going to deny it, and it is that there are several legal and moral disquisitions that remain in doubt when allowing an electronic device to be the one that drives the vehicle (and therefore has to their disposition human lives). Therefore, it is important to do a good legislative job in this regard. In the DGT project we can even find the definition of "Autonomous Car" which Gizmodo discover us:

Autonomous vehicle is any vehicle that has motor capacity equipped with technology that allows its handling or driving without specifying the active form of control or supervision of a driver, whether said autonomous technology was temporarily or permanently activated or deactivated.

Autonomous vehicle manufacturers, their bodybuilders and official laboratories, as well as manufacturers or installers of technology that allows the vehicle full autonomy, universities and consortia that participate in research projects, may request authorization to carry out tests and trials. .

So, it's time to study, work and rethink the need for the autonomous car. From the legal point of view, it is interesting to see how they will adapt the system, especially since these regulations are projected to come into force during 2017.
