WhatsApp will stop working on two platforms at the end of the year

WhatsApp

WhatsApp is the most used instant messaging service in the world, closely followed by Facebook Messenger, who is not really his competition, and that both companies are owned by Facebook Inc., it seems that good old Mark Zuckerberg knows how to do his business well (to this conglomerate we also have to add the Social Network most successful worldwide, Instagram).

Be that as it may, there is bad news for certain WhatsApp users, we hope few, but surely more than one can be affected. The reason for the surprise is that on December 31, WhatsApp will stop working on two mobile platforms, reducing their compatibility.

According to the company itself, it informed the media a few days ago, from next December 31, 2017 WhatsApp will stop providing active support for three operating systems that currently run on two current mobile platforms, although in more than clear danger of extinction. In this way we are going to stop seeing the updated support for WhatsApp both in Windows Phone and in any of the current BlackBerry operating systems, but ... What operating systems will be affected by this change? Well, these three, but also their previous versions:

  • Windows Phone 8.0
  • BlackBerry OS
  • BlackBerry 10

Since June they have been working on this decision, but it is not the only movement looking to the future, it will also stop working with Symbian S60 as of June 30, 2018, and those running the system Nokia S40 They will not be able to do so as of December 31 of next year. The same will happen with the devices they use Android 2.3.7 as of February 1, 2020. Of course WhatsApp is doing a good cleaning support, you will save on engineers and maybe invest in more current operating systems, or at least let's say that's what we expect.
