A homemade, Raspberry Pi-based Nintendo Switch is capable of running all retro games

Homemade Nintendo Switch NinTIMdo RP

We know the potential of a Raspberry Pi. We can use it as a multimedia center in the living room of our house. It can work as a computer for the little ones in the house (and not so little ones); in addition to being able to function as a desktop console thanks to the emulators that we can install. And it is at this last point where we will stop.

El modder Tim Lindquist wanted be based on the chassis of the Nintendo Switch, one of the most popular models of the moment, and introduce a Raspberry Pi inside. The result? The project «NinTIMdo RP». The model that you can see in photographs - and video - is completely built by Lindquist. In addition, in the video that we attach to this post, you can check its construction step by step.

As technical data, This homemade Nintendo Switch features a 7-inch touchscreen as if it were the original console. On the other hand, inside we will have a Raspberry Pi 3. Outside, in addition to having all the controls to be able to play comfortably, we will also have different connections.

First of all we will have 2 USB ports where to connect external elements (storage, peripherals ...). We will also have one HDMI output. And if we remember correctly, the Nintendo Switch can function as a portable or desktop console thanks to its base. So thanks to this port we can connect the NinTIMdo RP to any external screen.

As for its battery, it has a capacity of 10.000 milliamps and it charges through the microUSB port that is housed in the upper part. Tim hasn't forgotten about a standard 3,5mm headphone jack either. Finally, tell you that this home console feeds on retro games thanks to projects such as RetroArch o Retropie.

The NinTIMdo RP is not for sale, but its creator has left on your website everything you need to build it yourself: model3D, the list of components you need and the code to make it work. There will also be a "How-to" manual shortly.
