The streaming video game platform Steam will launch a new application focused on smart phones that will allow us to play our favorite titles through the two predominant mobile platforms: Android and iOS. That is, you can do streaming from your computer to your mobile and continue the games wherever you want.
Steam video consoles have not taken flight - we mean Steam Machines -; Perhaps better luck had the other device that the leisure platform sells: Steam Link, that one that allows to do streaming from your PC to the living room and be able to play in a more comfortable environment. However, the company is aware that both Android and iOS mobiles are being the revolution in the video game sector. And the best thing was to bet on this path.
A new Steam Link app is about to be launched (it will hit both app stores the week of May 21). Currently it worked with some Samsung televisions, but the interesting thing is that by downloading this new app on our terminal we will be able to continue the games that we have started on the PC. Now, as discussed, there will be limits.
For the invention to work you must connect your smartphone to PC via a 5 GHz WiFi network or connected to the router via cable and an Ethernet port; that is, you will not be able to make it serve wherever you want using your 4G connection —or 5G in the imminent future. Likewise, it is specified that the Steam Link app will be compatible not only with Android mobiles but also with tablets and Android TV. Meanwhile, on Apple's side, you can play your favorite titles on the iPhone, iPad and even through Apple TV.
As if all this were not enough, and as far as Apple is concerned, from Valve they also comment that you can use MFI certified equipment (Made For iPhone | iPad | iPod). Although they also comment that they will be compatible with the Steam Controller and other accessories without giving many more details.
