Acer introduces the first tablet with Chrome OS

Chrome OS is the operating system derived from Android, which is used in very low-performance equipment and mainly are aimed at an educational environment, where the United States does seem to do things well. This type of equipment is available for just under 200 euros.

The cheap price of it, just with the possibilities offered by having a full keyboard, has allowed Google to gain ground in American classrooms to the iPad Apple, a device that had become the favorite of both students and teachers.

Apple plans today to hold a new event aimed at education, and in which many analysts say that the company plans to launch a low-cost iPad to be able to counter the success of the Pixelbook with Chrome OS. But it seems that it is not the only one, since Google, in collaboration with Acer, presented yesterday, a day before the Apple event, the first tablet managed by Chrome OS.

In recent years, Chrome OS has evolved to be controlled by gestures. In fact, the most modern Pixelbook models offer us a touch screen, so that we can control the device with the keyboard or with our fingers, which sometimes allows a much faster interaction.

For just over a year, devices managed by Chrome OS are compatible with all the applications of the Google Play Store, obviously in those devices in which the screen is touch (older equipment is not), as in this case, so you have at your disposal a wide range of applications to meet any need in this regard.

The Acer Chromebook Tab 10, is managed by a 9,7-inch multi-touch screen with a resolution of 2.048 x 1.536. It is also compatible with a pencil manufactured by Wacom with which we can easily write or draw. Inside, we find a Rockchip OP1 processor with 2 Cortex A72 cores and 3 Cortex A53 cores, all accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, storage that we can expand using a microSD card.

The Chromebook Tab 10 offers us two speakers, one on each side of the screen, a USB-C port, a 5 mpx rear camera and a 2 mpx front camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac connection, bluetooth 4.1 and enough battery to last up to 9 hours of work. The weight of the entire equipment reaches 550 grams.

The price of the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 in the United States is $ 329 plus taxes, the same as the one that will arrive in Europe in May, but in euros and with VAT already included.
