Adidas will create its own factory operated solely by robots

Adidas

At the end of last year, Adidas announced its plans to bring all the company's footwear production back to Germany as of 2016. With this in mind, the company set out to build a new factory whose production line would be operated entirely by robots, this new project was baptized as speed factory. Along with this news, it was also revealed that this new plant located in its country of origin would be followed by another specially designed to offer footwear for the US market.

After all this time, Adidas finally seem to have things much clearer as they have just announced that, sometime in 2017, this new American Speedfactory will open its doors. Among the new data they just offered, we learn that the sportswear giant has finally chosen Atlanta as its headquarters, a new factory that stands out for its almost 7.000 square meters where, according to Adidas itself, by the end of 2017 some 50.000 pairs of sneakers.

Adidas wants to depend much less on its production in Asia

Although it may seem the opposite, this is a fairly small build volume If we take into account that the company manufactured about 301 million pairs of sneakers last year although, as they say in Adidas, this is only the beginning since this will make Adidas begin to rely much less on the company's facilities and factories in Asia, some of which have been scrutinized for unethical work practices.

Even though the factory has been designed to have products manufactured at a very high rate, thanks to the use of a fully automated assembly line, the truth is that to get the whole plant to work perfectly about 160 jobs will be created for human workers although, unfortunately, it is not specified what kind of work they should carry out.
