Amazon works on its own messaging app

Although WhatsApp continues to be the undisputed queen of mobile instant messaging applications, closely followed by FaceBook Messenger (both owned by Facebook) and others such as Snapchat, Telegram and even Messages in the case of iOS devices, the picture seems that the recent additions of Allo and Duo have not yet been closed, a new protagonist could soon join.

As revealed by AFTV News, Amazon is working on a messaging app own with which to compete, mainly to Google and Facebook services. This app will receive the denomination of Anytime, It could be launched sooner than we could imagine, and will include some news regarding what we have seen so far.

Anytime, by Amazon

The mobile messaging sector still has room to receive new players, or at least that is what they believe from Amazon, since the online sales giant plans to launch a new messaging app called Anytime.

According to AFTV News via TechCrunch, the new app will have versions for iOS, Android and desktop, and it promises some twists on the usual formula. One of its foundations will be encryption of text, video and voice messages, along with the usual stickers and some "hooks" to encourage users to sign up and participate in group chats.

Apparently, to use Anytime only one name will be necessary, and not a phone number as in WhatsApp; so users will only have to make Twitter-style mentions (@user) to chat with other users, share images ... The chats will have different colors, so that it is easier to identify the most important ones.

Along with this, Amazon Anytime It will also have functions that we can already find in other applications such as sharing music in a group, making purchases, and even contacting certain brands and their customer service departments.

At the moment, Amazon has not commented on this, however, there is no doubt that a messaging application would come in handy in the sense of complementing the Echo speaker, allowing users to send and receive messages and, why! do not! make purchases.
