As announced in the last keynote, in which Apple presented the new iPhone models, the second generation of the Apple Watch and the controversial AirPods, we can now download the latest version of the Mac operating system called macOS Sierra for free. Apple continues to use the nomenclature of Yosemite National Park Mountains to name the latest versions of their desktop operating systems (Yosemite was the first followed by El Capitan). One of the main and highly anticipated new features that macOS Sierra brings us, apart from changing the name of OS X or macOS, is the arrival of Siri on the Mac.
But it is not the only new function that Mac users will be able to enjoy, since Apple has also implemented the universal clipboard, a function that allows us to copy text, images or videos from the Mac to be able to consult them on our iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with iOS 10 and vice versa. Another of the new functions that comes to facilitate use with the Mac is the possibility of being able to unlock our computer directly from the Apple WatchWe just have to bring it to our Mac and the lock screen where we are asked for the password will disappear.
A function that has taken a long time to arrive and that forced many users to make use of third-party applications such as Helium, was the possibility of being able to place video from web pages in a floating window, to be able to resize the size and place it in the part of the screen that interests us the most without disturbing. The face recognition function in the Photos application also allows us to recognize objects in such a way that we will be able to search by faces (previously you have to name them) and by objects in our Mac Photos library.
To download this latest version of the Mac operating system, we just have to open the Mac App Store and go to the free applications, where the safest thing is that macOS Sierra is already available to download, and I say the safest because many millions of users have started downloading it since Apple released it barely three hours ago.
