Chrome 64 will let you mute videos that play automatically

The truth is that knowing what Google has prepared for us with the next version of Chrome - number 64 - we are looking forward to getting our hands on it. And it is that from Mountain View they have been working for months in being able to offer the user a option to 'mute' self-playing videos while browsing the internet pages.

And there is nothing more annoying than having different tabs open and it happens that you are concentrating on reading a text and that the audio of a video that is being played in another tab suddenly assails you. Likewise, another of the uncomfortable situations is to be enjoying a YouTube channel and that the audio from another video overlaps the content in the foreground.

Well, although it is still in beta, Chrome 64 has a feature that you are going to love if you are one of those who hate some of the above situations. Apparently, you will be the one to decide if you want more videos to be played automatically or not from any website you visit. But how can you configure it? Well, in a very simple way.

The option will be located in one of the parts of the browser that we use the most. Exactly, the address bar. But at first glance there will be nothing new. As commented from SlashGear, the option will be available in the green padlock icon (in the case of pages that have the SSL certificate applied or websites under "https"), while on websites that lack this certificate (website under "http") the option will be available by clicking on the «i» icon.

Pressing both icons A menu will be displayed in which, looking over the options, one will appear that refers to the sound of that website. If we disable the audio on that website, our option will be registered and will be applied in future visits. If you want to try this option, you can do it by downloading the beta version Chrome 64.
