Collector finds a Nintendo 64 that uses Disk Drive

original

Prototypes of Nintendo consoles are the order of the day. If not long ago we found the union between the PlayStation and the Nintendo that captivated half the world, now we find a prototype of the Nintendo 64 that works with Disk Drive in addition to the classic cartridges. This version of the console was an option considered by the Japanese company that could have changed the future of it, but it did not. In fact, Nintendo 64 is one of the most and best remembered consoles, despite the fact that PlayStation ended up dealing a final blow and was crowned as the leader of the generation.

This version called Nintendo 64 DD contained an accessory to read Disk Drive that will allow the creation of game
S longer, with more specifications and of course better. In addition, the Disk Drive has the possibility of re-writing, that is, it would assume the functions of a memory card and games could be modified. However, the release back in 1999 in Japan was so badly received that they scrapped the idea. Currently, a collector has acquired a prototype version of the Nintendo 64 Disk Drive that it was prepared to operate in the United States of America. The place of the apparition has been in Seattle.

YouTuber Jason Lindsey (MetalJesusRocks) has shown around the world this prototype known as NUD N64, a working model of the Nintendo 64 DD for the United States of America that never came to light. Among other functions we see the menu in English, which was never in the Japanese version. It does not require any type of cartridge to start, so we do not think it is a kit for developers. The problem is that by having the regional blockade for the United States from America, it will never play a Japanese game, and coincidentally, there are only games with a Japanese region for this model.
