Computer sales continue in free fall

The arrival of tables to the market was a hard blow for computers, both PC and Mac. Thanks to the tablets, most of the tasks that many users performed through a computer, have begun to be performed through tablets, thanks in part to the applications that developers have been releasing to the market. Although in recent months the sales of tablets are no longer what they were in the past, the renewal cycle of this type of devices has lengthened in time, some manufacturers continue to bet on them, providing them with incredible features that at some point, they can perfectly supply a computer, either PC or Mac. But in the meantime, computer sales continue to fall.

According to the latest data published by the Gatner firm, shipments of computers among the main manufacturers have fallen again for the nth consecutive quarter. The only ones spared from the big boys are Dell and HP, which coincidentally are American firms, who have seen their shipments grow by 1,4% compared to the same period last year. Asus and Acer have been the most affected, with drops of 10,3% and 12,5% respectively. In third position we find Lenovo with a drop of 8,4%.

Apple has also seen how Mac sales have fallen, although to a lesser extent, with 0,4%, but taking into account that recently has renewed the range of computers draws attention, since in recent years, it had managed to maintain the shipping bar and it seems that the drop in sales was not seriously affecting it.

In total, during the last quarter, shipments of computers from the main manufacturers together with the rest of the manufacturers grouped together within the category Others, rising to 61.105 units, for the 63.876 units shipped in the same period last year by all computer manufacturers.
