Matt Groening, the creator of the cult series Futurama and of the even better known The Simpsons, will return with a new adult animation series set in the Middle Ages that will be released exclusively in Netflix, the largest streaming video platform in the world.
The title of this new production will be Disenchantment (Disenchantment); will star the Princess Bean and will ooze sarcasm in every scene, something that this creator has us used to, however, this time orientation towards adult audiences could be more pronounced.
Disenchantment with the world and our ability to overcome it
Although it is an animated series, Disenchantment (Disenchantment) has a fairly deep message because, according to Matt Groening's own statements, “the disenchantment of life, death, love and sex, as well as how we continue to be able to laugh at a world full of suffering and idiots ”constitute the central axis of his new proposal.
If "The Simpsons" takes place in a present tense and "Futurama" took a huge leap forward in time, Disenchantment will step back several hundred years to develop into the medieval kingdom of Dreamland.
Another of the great novelties of the series is that it will feature female protagonism Well, Princess Bean will be the protagonist, although she will be accompanied by the demon Luce, Elfo and we will see lots of witches, harpies, ogres, trolls and everything typical of the mythical imaginary of the Middle Ages.
Disenchantment coming to Netflix exclusively in 2018 with a first batch of ten episodes that we will "devour" with great enthusiasm. Of course, the initial agreement is for twenty chapters so we can already count on a second season almost guaranteed.
Will be Disenchantment the replacement to The Simpsons, a series of which its end has already been announced for some years?
