DJI has unveiled its new stabilized camera, the OSMO +

DJI OSMO + detail

Less than a year ago, the flagship drone company DJI presented the handheld version of the camera that mounted on them, DJI OSMO. It was not just another selfie stick and it added a gimbal or gimbal to the camera, stabilized in three axes that made that the recordings of the sensor that had been mounted in the camera could take impressive images reaching resolutions of 4K at 30 fps.

This stabilized camera was mounted on a handle that had a microphone and the controls to operate the camera very easily. Well now, before a year has passed since the presentation of the first OSMO, those of DJI have presented the improved version of it, the DJI OSMO +. They have made a new camera to which they have added the possibility of making a zoom meeting, now incorporates a 3,5x objective that they have divided into 2x optical and XNUMXx digital lossless.

If we look at the new OSMO + we will see that the shape is very similar although it incorporates new features that make it even more complete. As for the mango that sustains the gimbal or cardan, a side wheel has been added with which the zoom meeting in the image when we believe it appropriate in addition to the fact that the battery capacity of the original OSMO has been improved and is that it has gone from 980mAh to 1225 mAh in its intelligent battery, making the autonomy problems that were had with the first model to be minimized.

Second we can talk about gimbal or gimbal that is mounted on the OSMO + and is that the third upper motor has been changed for two. Now the camera itself is anchored to the gimbal by means of two lateral motors that make the control of it much more exact. This novelty has been inherited from the Phantom 4 camera.

As for the characteristics of the video that it can record, little changes and that is that the maximum recording is 4K UHD at 25 frames per second maximum, while in the quality of 1080, up to 100 fps is reached, to create videos in slow motion (In this case, the reason why 20 fps has been lowered is unknown and that is that the original OSMO records at 1080 and 120 fps for the slow motion). The photographs are still taken in the same format and in the same quality, JPEG and DNG (RAW), supporting up to 64 GB through the integrated microSD slot.

DJI OSMO + accessories

Finally, we talk about the star feature that has been inherited from the latest camera that DJI launched for its drones, the DJI Zenmuse Z3. The new one DJI Osmo + incorporates a 3,5x optical zoom (22-77mm f2.8-5.2) that makes the camera more complete. DJI has also incorporated a 2x digital zoom into its camera that does not generate any loss during video capture but in Full HD quality. The new Osmo + is available through the DJI website at a price of 750 euros.
