Playback in the background

Officially, we can subscribe to YouTube Red, and play videos in the background with the phone screen off, which allows us to play the audio of any song or listen to that channel to which we are subscribed while we are lying peacefully on the sofa in our house.

Google already capped that ability on YouTube to be able to play in the background, but it is now from beta 54 of Chrome when you can play videos in the background. And the news of this new beta version is not only here, but a new page of tabs and other more insignificant, but interesting details are integrated.

Chrome's new tabs page receives several changes, but rather on the removing buttons from recent tabs and markers. These become available from the menu at the top right, to keep that new page of tabs with the Google logo and the mythical search bar. The new thing is that now you can access a new section of recommended articles, but that have nothing to do with those that are shared from Google Now.

Previously, with regard to video playback (although we received updates), in version 53 of Chrome, when playing a video in a tab and one went to another app, it was paused automatically, something that will no longer happen when you upgrade to version 54 which allows video playback in the background. Of course, the videos will pause when you exit Chrome, although you can resume them from the notification bar; the same thing happens with the audios, although they won't stop.

The other features are support for the customizable elements API V1 and support for Broadcast Channel API, which allows tabs to communicate with each other via JavaScript.
