How to download content on Netflix to watch them anytime, anywhere

Netflix It is today one of the most popular video on demand services that exist, not only in our country but in half the world. Now it has a rival in Spain with the arrival of HBO, but it seems that they want to face it and yesterday they launched the long-awaited possibility of downloading content, so that after seeing it at any time and place without having to run out of data on our rate.

Now any user could plan, for example, a long train or bus trip and download some chapters of the series they are watching or a movie, to spend a fun and enjoyable trip. So that you have everything under control, today we are going to explain you in a simple way how to download content on Netflix to watch anytime, anywhere.

What content can be downloaded?

We have bad news or not all the good news that you would like, and that is that not all content is downloadable due to broadcasting rights, and at the moment only part of everything on Netflix can be downloaded.

To access all the downloadable content, a separate section has been created that you can find in the service menu. To give you an idea below we have made you a summary of the main content that you will be able to download without any problem and in a simple way;

How to download Netflix content

Netflix wanted us to make it very easy and to download content we will only have to access the movie or the chapter of the specific series that we want to download. At the moment and unfortunately you cannot download complete series, something that would be really interesting.

As we see in the following image right next to the play button we will see a new icon with a down arrow. If we click on it, it will automatically start downloading the content.

As you can see any download that is being carried out we can see it at the bottom of the main screen, and from any Netflix screen.

How long do the downloads take and how long will we have to wait?

As we have already commented, the selection of content to download to our devices is quite wide, and surely another question you are asking yourself is the space they occupy. The capacity occupied by each of the downloads we make will depend a bit on ourselves and that is that from the "Application Settings", which we can find in the main menu, we can select the quality in which we want to make the downloads.

The possibilities are "Standard", which means faster downloads and lower consumption in terms of storage space on our device.. The "High" option is also available, which occupies a greater storage space and the content download will take much longer.

In the test we have carried out un chapter of an hour and a half has taken us just over 450 MB in standard quality and 1.2 GB in high quality. All the storage space necessary to store the movies or episodes of the series, must come directly from the internal storage space of your device. At the moment the possibility of saving the downloads on the device's SD card is not available if we have it, although it is to be imagined that this possibility will be active very soon.

Our opinion after trying the new Netflix option

All of us who day after day make long trips by train, by bus or even in a car as companions, we very much missed the possibility of using Netflix (and other services of this type) offline or what is the same the possibility of downloading content, through a WiFi connection, and then using it without having to resort to our data connection.

Our first experience has been more than positive, and the quality of reproduction is quite good without spending too much space on the internal storage of our device, which in most cases will be a smartphone and a few a tablet, which will be more complicated to carry with us.

Among the defects that we have found in this new Netflix functionality, is that of not being able to store downloaded content on the microSD card. In my case that I have done the test on an iPhone, complications always appear with the storage space, no matter how much it has 64GB. Hopefully very soon we will not only see the possibility of storing content in the microSD, but also in a cloud created by and for Netflix.

Finally, I cannot help saying that downloading content and having it organized is the simplest, although when it comes to deleting the content, things get a little more complicated and it is that sometimes, for example, the chapters of the series take time to be eliminated and especially in updating our storage space.
