Elon Musk claims his factories are producing respirators

The controversial CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, affirmed on their social networks that they are aware of the coronavirus pandemic that is affecting the world and that they are not staying with their arms crossed, they want to contribute their bit to fight Covid-19. Musk, who is known for his eccentricities, shows that he is committed to the fight against the virus like other large automobile companies (General Motors and Ford) that have also joined the manufacture of this type of respirator.

Everything indicates that the shortage will arrive and is latent in various parts of the world, in addition, experts have warned that the United States faces a shortage of basic supplies such as respirators in the following days due to the considerable increase in infected people.

This is the tweet in which the billionaire claimed that would work in manufacturing of breathing machines in case hospitals need it:

Why are these respirators so important?

This virus mainly affects the respiratory tract and lungs of people, so these breathing machines that directly serve to keep people breathing are essential to combat Covid-19. This is a problem for health and is that these types of machines exist en masse but obviously in the end they do not reach everyone and this becomes a problem.

The North American reports for February indicate that the United States has 160.000 respirators available in hospitals and about 8.900 in an emergency reserve. Well, it seems that they will not be enough and that is why it is so important that they start to manufacture as soon as possible. Let's hope that all the people who need these respirators can use them but in our country and in Italy the shortage of respirators is making the work of doctors very difficult.
