Andy Rubin's Essential is almost impossible to repair

Every time a new smartphone arrives on the market, the guys at iFixit get hold of a unit and begin to disassemble it to see what the repair cost would be if the device were to be affected. iFixit scores from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest score and indicates ease of repair. Samsung models, mainly Due to the curved screen, they give us a very low score.

Apple iPhones, on the other hand, have obtained an average score of 8 out of 10, being much easier to repair, although the repair is not exactly cheap. The last smartphone that has passed through the hands of iFixit is the Essential by Andy Rubin, one of the most anticipated smartphones in recent years.

After several months of delay, the Essential is finally available to the public, a smartphone that draws special attention for the frames so small. This terminal has obtained a score of 1 out of 10, one of the worst possible marks that a terminal can receive when it passes through the hands of iFixit. The reason for this low note, at least the main one, is found in making it difficult to remove the screen without breaking, due to the large amount of glue used in its manufacture.

Another of the negative points that the iFixit guys have found and that sometimes causes charging problems, is the USB-C port, which is soldered to the board, so if we give a pull or are not careful when disconnecting it we run the risk of breaking the plate. The rest of the components inside the smartphone do not offer, at least to the naked eye, any repair problem, so if we finally get one of these terminals, we must take care of it as much as possible, since changing the screen can not only cost an arm and a leg, but also the price of labor can also give us a good scare.
