We tested the new UE Wonderboom 2. Stronger, more powerful and with the new Outdoor Boost mode

If there is a loudspeaker firm that is prepared to fight in "hostile" environments such as the mountains or the beach now that the good weather is coming, this is undoubtedly Wonderboom. In this case, the firm presents its new Wonderboom model, the Wonderboom 2.

As you can read in the title, the new Wonderboom 2 offers us greater resistance to shocks, water and dust, it is also somewhat more powerful than the previous model and adds a new mode with which the sound improves in the moments that we find ourselves away from home and we carry it with us, this is what this is created for new, small and powerful speaker from Ultimate Ears signature.

Aesthetic improvements compared to the previous model

In this case we can say that both speakers, the Wonderboom and the Wonderboom 2 are quite similar in terms of design and the characteristic buttons to increase or decrease the volume. But in this second version the company places special emphasis on enhance the outer fabric of the speakers that make them more resistant and gives a slightly different style to the Wonderboom 2 when we have it next to the previous model.

Another change that we notice at first glance is obviously the tape with which this speaker can be hung anywhere. In this new Wonderboom 2 have enlarged and changed the rope design for an elastic one in which the signature logo appears. All this makes the transport much better in this model and also safer. Physically they may seem the same, but they really are models with quite a few differences and another one of them is the lower button that activates the new Outdoor Boost mode, which we will talk about right now.

What is the Outdoor Boost mode of this new Wonderboom 2?

What really makes this Wonderboom 2 different is this new Outdoor Boost mode. This is a new feature that makes users have a better audio experience in any outdoor environment as the sound becomes clearer and somewhat louder. All this is readjusted by the speaker itself so the user simply has to choose between activating this mode or not.

Water resistant, floats and resists bumps

It could not be otherwise and that is because the Wonderboom are characterized by their high resistance to shocks and are perfect to take them to the beach, mountains or anywhere without worries. In the presentation it was said that the best test for any device was to leave it to a child and we can really say that they hold up very well. But the main feature of these new Wonderboom 2 is that they are water resistant with an IP67 certification, so they resist for half an hour in water less than one meter perfectly.

And yes, the new Wonderboom 2 have spectacular buoyancy so don't worry if it falls into the pool. So we no longer have an excuse to take these speakers to the beach or pool and enjoy our music anywhere.

Sound quality of this new speaker

We get into what really matters and it is the audio quality and power of these new speakers. We can say that in this sense Ultimate Ears is one of the companies that best does this job of adding power to their speakers and the Wonderboom 2 will not disappoint you in this regard. Its power is really impressive for how small this speaker is in terms of dimensions, dimensions that are somewhat tighter than the previous model but that do not vary at first glance: 10,4 x 9,5 x 9,5 cm and 422 g

Improved autonomy in the new Wonderboom 2

The battery of these new Wonderboom 2 is capable of holding at a medium volume for about 13 hours according to the manufacturer. In our case we have not really counted the time that passed since we made the first charge to the maximum, but those 13 hours are even more if we do not constantly have the speaker volume through the roof. This obviously improves on the previous model that, although it is true that it had good autonomy, the new model surpasses it.

Wonderboom 2 price, colors and availability

The price of these new Wonderboom 2 models is marked at 99,99 euros so the price of the previous model is matched at the time of its launch. An inexpensive speaker that is already available for purchase in our country from the Ultimate Ears website.

With regard to the colors available, the new model of the firm has five colors available: Deep Space Black (Black), Crushed Ice (Gray), Radical Red (Red), Bermuda Blue (Blue) and Just Peach (Pink). The latter will be available for sale from the end of July so it is the only one still in reserve, the rest can already be purchased.
