FlashLED SOS lets you say goodbye to triangles forever

As you well know, for some time in Spain, the regulatory body for these issues (the General Directorate of Traffic) allows the use of signaling beacons to replace the archaic reflective triangles. However, the controversy overshadowed its deployment when the regulations changed, indicating specifications that would make the standard beacons only valid until 2026.

The new FlashLED SOS is a beacon that complies with the V16 regulation, has geolocation and integrated connection, which allows you to use it even after 2026. We take a look at this new product with which FlashLED intends to occupy a small space in the glove compartment of all Spanish vehicles.

The design is simple and functional

The new FlashLED SOS, unlike the FlashLED V16 that we previously analyzed, now has a completely circular design, focused on improving the visibility of the LEDs, optimizing storage options and, of course, increasing their durability.

At the top we have the button that activates the lighting and synchronization. The edges are also covered with rubber so that it resists blows much better. and inclement weather, let's remember that it is designed for all kinds of situations.

The lower part houses the hole for the 9V disposable battery, that is included in the package, as well as the magnetized area that will make the FlashLED SOS stay securely attached to the roof of our vehicle.

As expected, the device is resistant to dust and water, has protection IP54 and its operation is guaranteed in temperature conditions ranging between -10ºC and 50ºC.

V16 certification and geolocation

To obtain the V16 certification, which allows you to replace the triangles of your car with an accessory of this type, the FlashLED SOS offers 360º visibility with a range of at least 1 km away, which will allow you to be seen by other vehicles, maximizing both your safety and that of the rest of the traffic

However, you already know that the V16 certification is only valid until 2026, from that year on, the beacons are required to have geolocation. For it, FlashLED SOS has been certified according to the DGT 3.0 regulations, using Telefónica Tech technology.

This built-in geolocation system allows a synchronization between the beacon to inform the DGT completely anonymously about the location of the fault. The data connection through Telefónica Tech is guaranteed for at least 13 years from its purchase.

To connect it, you simply have to make a long press, link it to the application (it includes a QR code) and it will be fully configured.

The fine for not using triangles well

Not only is it mandatory to have the triangles and the most important reflective vest, they have to have the E11 certification of the European Union in terms of design and visibility. However, these triangles are in the trunk and they are not going to put themselves.

According to Article 130 of the General Circulation Regulations, the triangles must be placed 50 meters from the obstacle and must be visible at least 100 meters away. Not placing them properly or lacking them would lead to a fine of up to 200 euros.

So we remember that from the year 2026, it is imperative to have one of these devices, however, as good technology lovers that we are, we like to be pioneers and we have already tried FlashLED SOS, which occupies a special place in the glove compartment of our vehicle.

This can be purchased for €59,95 on the official FlashLED website, however, for fleets or large users there are discounts for purchasing more than one unit.
