The Galaxy S8 will not hit the market in a flat version

Since Samsung gave a return to the concept we had as a smartphone when it launched the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, many manufacturers have been expanding the framework of their smartphone to practically disappear. Xiaomi and Huawei in their latest models are two clear examples of this new trend. Sony also seems to want to join this trend, to which sooner or later all manufacturers will be forced to reach out if they want to remain an option for users. As of today and when in theory there are just over two months to go before the Galaxy S8 is officially announced, most rumors suggest that this new terminal would have a screen ratio greater than 90% of the front.

According to the Korea Herald, Samsung could ditch the flat-panel model, launching only the Edge model, a model with rounded bezels and no frames on both sides, following the trend of the sadly ill-fated Note 7, which as we all know, was withdrawn from the market two months after its launch due to the explosions that this device suffered.

By eliminating the flat model, the Korean company would launch two screen display models: one 5,7-inch and one 6,2-inch, both with the same features and where the only thing that would change would be the size of the screen. By eliminating the frames of the terminal, the size of the terminal would not be increased too much, so users of this screen size would hardly be affected by the increase in the size of the screen, which would be absorbed by the edges that would practically disappear terminal.

Regarding the terminals that may be folded in the future and in which the company has been working for several years registering patents, it seems that it is still early for them to begin to reach the market at an affordable price, although Some rumors suggest that the Korean-based company could present the first model at CES held at the beginning of the year in Las Vegas.
