Gboard exceeds 500 million downloads on Google Play

Google has always tried to put its head in everything that can bring it benefits, it is clear that it is not an NGO. A few months ago it released the Gboard keyboard for iOS, a fantastic keyboard that many iOS users have adopted as the ultimate after testing many since Apple opened this possibility to third-party developers with the release of iOS 9. Oddly enough, Google still did not launch it for Android, its own mobile ecosystem, a launch that finally took place in December, a little less than a month ago in the form of an update, since it replaced the classic Google keyboard that is installed natively in all Android terminals.

Few are the applications that have exceeded 500 million downloads, and even fewer those that have exceeded 1.000 billion downloads. Among the applications that have been downloaded more than 500 million times, we find the typical ones for WhatsApp, Skype, Facebook, Instagram ... and most Google applications, in part because they are included natively in the company's terminals. Gboard, just surpassed the figure of 500 million in just under a month, and it is very likely that soon he will join the select club of 1.000 million.

One of the most striking features of Gboard is the ability to search GIF files directly from the keyboard, without having to resort to third-party applications or keyboards, but it is not the only one. The possibility of being able to search directly for products, services, shops or whatever we want and share it quickly through the conversation we have is another of the main virtues of this keyboard. The competition is going to have to work a lot if it wants to position itself as an alternative to the Google keyboard, a keyboard that has given a thousand turns to what we understood until now of a fast, useful and practical keyboard.
