Google Maps now lets you search for public toilets in India

A little over a month ago we informed you of the project that both Google and the Indian government had in mind, a project that would allow citizens of large cities to quickly find a public toilet. Although it may seem strange, in India there are many people who do not have access to places to wash or relieve themselves, forcing them to step aside and leave a gift for the next one who passes by. However, both in Europe and in the United States, regulations require that any establishment that serves food offer a toilet, which has logically avoided having the same sanitation problem in India.

Rajan Anandan, vice president and director of operations in India and Southeast Asia, just announced through an event in New Delhi that Google's service to provide information on public toilets has just been launched and any user with a smartphone can quickly locate a location to relieve themselves, wash ... To find a toilet, users only have to open the Google Maps application on your smartphone and enter toilet or the Hindi word for this term. Currently Google Maps offers 5.1000 public toilets in New Delhi, one of the two cities where this service has started to work. The other city where this information service will be launched is Madhya Pradesh.

Google Maps will provide detailed information about the toilets, such as the style of the toilet, the cleaning hours as well as whether the toilet in question is free or although you have to pay to be able to use them. The list where all the available toilets are shown, will also show the schedule and the address. The Indian government wants to improve the sanitation of the city by reducing the number of bowel movements and urinations that are performed daily throughout the country, a country with a population of 1.200 billion. and that has become one of the main objectives of many companies, especially those related to technology.
