A few months ago, action camera firm GoPro announced that it was leaving the budget market to focus solely on the most professional models. The reason was obvious: the market was full of this type of cameras of Chinese origin at much lower prices to those of the basic model that GoPro offered us. Of course, the quality was also far from what GoPro offered us in those models. Several months later, GoPro has just launched the fifth generation of its sports camera, Hero 5, with which it continues to want to be a reference in the market.

The new models that the company has presented are the Hero 5 Black and the Session. The Hero 5 Black version offers us a renewed design, where new functionalities have been added while the Session It is a renewal of the model that the company launched a couple of years ago in the form of a cube.

The Hero 5 Black is capable of photographs at 12 megapixels and save them in RAW format, two-inch screen and GPS receiver to geolocate our photos and videos through a map. This new model is now waterproof up to 10 meters without any type of housing and also has voice recognition, ideal for when we lack hands to be able to press the button. That is, if the voice commands are predetermined such as GoPro starts recording, GoPro stops recording, GoPro take a photo… we will not be able to start a conversation with the GoPro. Its price is located at $ 399,99 and will be available from October 2.

The Hero 5 Session is waterproof and although it cannot take RAW photos, allows us to do them in a resolution of up to 10 megapixels. It does not have a GPS or screen (it has no physical place to locate it). This model will hit the market for just over $ 299,99 also starting October 2.

In what if both cameras coincide is that they can record in 4k quality at 30 frames per second. If we want to expand the number of photographs we will have to reduce the resolution to 1080 to be able to record 120 fps or to 2 k quality to be able to record at 60 fps.
