How does YouTube's TV mode work?

Moto TV from Youtube

Despite having seen it multiple times, perhaps we never realized that there is an exceptional way to watch YouTube videos from our computer, but on mobile devices. This suggests having to synchronize these two teams so that they can perform a very attractive task for all of us.

If the possibility of reviewing YouTube videos on our computer (if it is portable much better) is something excellent, even more so if we could watch on an external TV, tablet or mobile phone. This magic is translated into reality thanks to the streaming service that Google has called YouTube's Tv Mode; Right now we will tell you how to configure this service so that you can enjoy it to the fullest.

Compatibility of YouTube Tv Mode with our mobile devices

What we are going to explain below can be done on any type of mobile device, since all that is required is an Internet connection and, as far as possible, Wi-Fi connectivity, although the latter is not primordial. We have tested the service with a Google TV device, and the result is truly magnificent. Through a series of sequential steps, below we will indicate how you should proceed to configure our computer with a mobile device that you have on hand:

  • We start the operating system of both the computer and our mobile device.
  • In the computer we go towards the following link.
  • We click on the small gear wheel located towards the left side.

  • We choose the option of Login and Configuration.
  • We open another browser tab with the YouTube.com address, we enter our access credentials.
  • We return to the previous tab.

  • We select (by clicking) the box that indicates the synchronization with a device.
  • We pay attention to the code that is offered to us on this screen.

  • Now we go to the browser of our mobile device.
  • In it we place the following address shown in the previous image.
  • On the screen we look for the space where we have to write the code suggested above.

That's all we need to do to have our personal computer configured with any of the mobile devices that we are using at that moment. What we have actually done is activate a streaming channel to communicate to both teams. We will handle everything practically from our computer, becoming the mobile device, only a projection screen.

Now, all we need to do is locate ourselves on the computer and in the Internet browser that we have decided to use to search for our YouTube videos. Right there there is an icon shaped like a magnifying glass, same that we must select to write a topic that is of our interest.

Of all the results that appear, we will only have to select one of them.

Without having to do anything else, the browser screen on our computer will change to a generic one where you can mainly admire, at YouTube logo saying that the selected movie is being shown; In addition, it will be saved in the history or in the "queued" playlist, which means that we could get to see said movie at another time if we cannot do it at that moment.

While all this is happening on our computer, the movie will start playing on the mobile device. As we had suggested at the beginning, we have tested this service using an Android miniPC with Google Tv, which we have connected to the HDMI port of a large TV. Without having to use a cable to connect the computer with the television, we are ordering the film to be played wirelessly on this device, wirelessly, but with the help of our Google Tv.

The functions to work with the YouTube Tv Mode are immense, although at the moment we have only dedicated ourselves to try to explain how to configure the service with two different computers, to be able to review movies wirelessly. It is worth mentioning that there may be certain failures in this connection, and a local error message may appear from time to time on the network.
