Yosemite has been a radical change in OS X. With Yosemite, the flat design that arrived last year on the iPhone and iPad with iOS 7, has been installed in the new version of the operating system for Mac computers. All iDevices users who They did not accept the design change, which occurred from iOS 6 to iOS 7 leaving skeumorphism aside, finally they have had no choice, for better or worse, than adjust to the new interface.

Windows allows us to configure, within a measure, the colors with which we want to work on our PC, but up to a certain point. Yosemite also allows us change the color of the top menu bar and the background of the Dock. Both have a gray color with a slight transparency. If not to our liking, we can change it to the only color available: black with transparencies.

The process, as is usual in most options to configure Mac is very simple and does not require great knowledge. Here we show you how we can darken the top menu bar and the bottom of the Dock (regardless of where you are on the screen).

  • First we go to the icon System preferences, located in the Dock, represented with a gear.
  • In the System Preferences menu, we go to the first option that is named General.
  • In the new window that opens, we will go to Appearance and select the tab Use dark menu bar and Dock. As soon as we select this tab, we will check how the color of the menu bar and the Dock changes.

If the result is not to our liking and we want to have the menus in gray again, we must uncheck the box. As simple as that.
