Surely you have already appreciated the new configuration and interface of Outlook.com, where you will find a few elements that were not previously present. Within these small squares that are part of the tile design of Microsoft's new operating system, you will find new names of applications that you can use from right now, one of them being OneNote.

In addition to OneNote, you will also be able to appreciate the name of OneDrive, which was formerly SkyDrive and which due to a legal aspect had to change its name to the current one. Far from it all, you might be wondering what is OneNote and its much mentioned Clipper for, something that we will mention to you right now regarding the correct way to configure the service and to work with its most important functions.

Setting up OneNote step by step in the internet browser

Well, right now you must take notes on each of the indications that we will mention, since we will configure the OneNote Clipper service so you can use it at all times. As is customary in our articles of this type, we will suggest a series of easy-to-follow sequential steps:

  • Open your Internet browser (preferably the one you have as default in the system).
  • Login with the respective credentials to your Outlook.com account (or Hotmail.com).
  • Click the little backward arrow under the Outlook.com name.
  • Check if you have the OneNote service online.
  • Open another browser tab and go to following link.

With these simple steps, right now we will find ourselves on the OneNote Clipper page, place where there is a little information on how to use this tool. All you need to know at the moment is that you must select with the mouse pointer the small box (or button) that has a text inside and that says «Crop and Paste in OneNote«.

When you put the mouse pointer over this box, it will change shape to a cross. This is because we are being told that we have the possibility of select and drag said box where we want. Well, now we will only have to select and drag this small box to the bookmarks bar of our Internet browser, which could be Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer or any other that you have on your system.

On this aspect it is worth mentioning that OneNote Clipper is not compatible with the modern (tile) version of Internet Explorer that you can find both in Windows RT and in Windows 8 onwards.

How to use OneNote Clipper

Suppose we find some information that is of interest to us on certain web pages, then it is the moment when we should start using this small button that we have placed in the bookmarks bar of our Internet browser. To better illustrate what we are trying to say, we have navigated to a blog article, at which point we press the button we previously placed (from OneClipper).

As you can admire in the previous image, immediately We are asked to log in to be able to work with this function. All we need to do is click the button with said suggestion, so that OneNote Clipper will immediately synchronize with our Outlook.com account, which we previously opened as recommended.

The new window that will appear in another browser tab suggests «Save Click on OneNote«, Having to click on this button if we really want to save the information of the article that we found previously.

If for some reason we make a mistake and we do not wish to record this information, we will simply have to click on the option under said button, which would practically cancel the action. To be able to find all our annotations or records made with this button, we only have to open our Outlook.com account and later, to the option of OneNote Online that we mentioned at the beginning.

There we will have to review all our notes by clicking on the button that says "Notepad of ...".
