How to know what the IP address is in a Hotmail email

SThere are several who have asked how to know the IP address of a mail in Hotmail. So today I'm going to tell you how to do it easily.

Pyou may wonder Why does someone want to know the IP address of an email? and the answers are many, it may help you to know if the sent email belongs to the company you work for (with fixed IP) or even to send an email to yourself and automatically know what is your IP. There will also be those who want to use the IP to attack an account and obtain Hotmail passwords, but these malicious hackers (There are also good hackers) they already know how to get an IP, although this is not enough to get anything, and they will not discover anything new here. In any case it is extremely easy to know the sender's IP with the new version of Hotmail. Let's see how to do it:

1º) Open your Windows Live Hotmail account and if you are in the basic version change to the full version, it is free, it is done in a second and then you can quickly return to the basic version if you prefer that way. If you don't know how to go from one version to another, read «How to change version in Hotmail» and you will see that it is very easy.

2º) Assuming you are already using the full version of Hotmail, head over to the Inbox and put the mouse pointer over the email from which you want to get the sender's IP. Click with the secondary button mouse (usually the right) on the mail and a window will open in which you will have to choose "View source code".

See Hotmail source code

3º) In the window that opens you have to look for the line that says "X-Originating-IP: [XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX]" where the XXX will represent the numbers that make up the IP address of the sender of the Hotmail mail.

Sender's IP address

Y that's all, how will you understand all "X" that appear in the images I have put them to hide the addresses of my friends, you see how easy it has been. I want to thank Eri She was the first to ask her questions and she was the one who finally explained how to do it. Vineyard greetings.

I just needed to know the IP of the recipient of an email. I went in where you said the X-Originating-IP: that appears to me are the same in emails that I know with certainty that they send me from no. different ip's. Why is that case?
other: because sometimes the data about X-Originating-IP: does not appear in the mail ??

  2.   Killer Vinegar said

Juana I suppose that it is hidden behind a proxy or that they are sent from a common mail server that is why the same IP appears.

  3.   Killer Vinegar said

Hello celeste, have you opened the page with the source code of the mail and you don't see the x-originating-ip? Don't you see the line or if you see x-originating-ip but next to it nothing appears?

  4.   heavenly said

Hello, I think the explanation is excellent, but I can not find the IP this way. it might not find the X-Originating-IP? Thank you

  5.   PETER said

I have the IP address but what is it for, I can actually obtain the password of the user that I want and has a hotmail account-

  6.   Killer Vinegar said

Peter that's not good for that. Also, maybe I didn't understand you very well, but if what you want is to "hack" a hotmail account, you should know that this is illegal. As I told you, maybe I did not understand you, and if so I apologize but in any case you must be careful if you do not want to get into trouble. Remember that everything on the Internet leaves a trail and although "some think" that hiding behind 20 proxies and similar techniques is of use to them, when the affected person has resources, the attacker-intruder ends up being caught. All the best.

  7.   cristian said

Hello, you can find out who owns a hotmail address. They just gave me the address and I want to know the name of the one who has it registered.
    Thank you

  8.   Killer Vinegar said

Use the search engine above or look in the "Email" category. You will find what you are looking for.

  9.   Goel said

Okay. a small detail that is not clear to me, and it is because I am a newbie in this but if I can see the x-originating-ip thing that thanks to his advice I can do it, but he did not even tell me where the mail came from, I did something evil?
Thank you for your clarification and your help.

  10.   Killer Vinegar said

Goel that will only tell you the IP address of the mail, nothing more.

  11.   Laura said

    Hello Vinegar
I perfectly understood how to obtain the IP of a hotmail email, but how do you know if they used the same computer to send an email from a non-hotmail account?

All the emails that my brothers send me from different hotmail accounts, through the same computer if I find them with the same IP, but when they come from an account that does not belong to hotmail, I cannot find the «X-Originating-IP

  12.   Killer Vinegar said

Well, I suppose that the server that sends the mail from another service hides the ip.

  13.   mary said

GREAT!! winds you got a 10 with this tutorial gracais * - *
And where does that say leave an omentary how much is 3 + 2 XD? I did not understand what that is for.

  14.   Killer Vinegar said

mary on the internet there are some programs that automatically leave comments on all the forms they find. The 3 + 2 thing is a way to make sure that the one making the comment is human. All the best.

Very good your contribution to know the IP address in hotmail, we appreciate it.
Now I would like to know how I achieve the same with an email that reaches GMAIL.

Francisco will write down your question and when I can I will investigate on the subject. All the best.

  17.   Sinister said

for gmail you have to open the mail you want to find out its ip. After opening the message that you have received, you go to the upper right corner of the message and make a clip in "original message" and in x-original is the ip.

  18.   Killer Vinegar said

Well, I see that it is the same method. I'll try it, thanks for the notice.

Hello, excellent, I already have the IP, but how do I find out which domain it belongs to and even more can you know the name of the person?

  26.   Abelardo said

adding something to the above, can you know the name of the person? Because many times the emails do not describe who sent them, then you can find out for example from which company the email came?

  27.   Vinegar said

Abelardo at the moment you can create a record to know what domain it comes from, the person behind it is something else, to find out you need a court order, unless it comes from a unique IP address in which case it can only be one person, but this is not normal.

Ready mate vinegar killer I hope you keep using that knowledge for good

In the case of the IP I have a question, I have checked the IP of a person in different emails, and in most of it is the same, but in others it varies, it does not vary in its entirety, only in one of the decimal fields, that is what you want say they weren't sent from the same site or does it just mean you have a dynamic IP?

  65.   Castor said

Hello everyone, if the sender's IP is shown but in this case it would be the IP of the isp the internet provider that the sender uses to know that data you just have to do a whois so you can know the internet provider that the sender uses, in the In case you use a proxy you use netcat, and once you have the IP where it says XX-Originating- ip [00-00-00-00-] you just have to scan it with netca and you will get the original address of the person who had this IP assigned.

Hi. I just discovered this page because I find myself in a somewhat unpleasant situation ...

I recently "met" a person online and we started sending each other quite a few emails. Suddenly, that person has disappeared, I have started to investigate and I have discovered that in the "X-Originating-IP" field of their emails I always get the same code as in the emails I receive from a friend of mine .

I don't want to be the most paranoid in the world, but I have begun to wonder if those emails were not sent to me by my own friend posing as someone else, who is the one who has now disappeared.

Summarizing: my question is, in the X-Originating-IP field, is the number that appears the one of the pc from where they write me or is it the one of the domain where the mails come from (in this case they both used hotmail and wrote from the same province)?

I do not know, the truth is that I am fatal asking these questions, but I get lost in this world and I think they have given me all the law.

Thank you very much for everything!

    m.

Hello, I have been receiving threats, if I find out the IP, can I know from which country or city they are sending it?

Thank you, I await your prompt reply, please.

Knowing the IP it is possible to know the Country and the city.

I have answered the same questions many times and that is why I am going to close the comments. Nor will I reply to any email that asks something that has already been answered on this page. I hope that if you have doubts you can clarify them with the article and the comments.

    A vinegary greeting to all.
