How to permanently disable the Help Tutorial in Windows 8.1

disable Help Tips in Windows 8.1

If you are one of the many people who has come to update your latest version of the operating system to Windows 8.1, then surely you you may have noticed the presence of a few pop-up windows that appear as a small tutorial on how to use the new functionalities of this new revision proposed by Microsoft.

Theoretically, once this tutorial is finished showing on each of the screens that we navigate through Windows 8.1, it should no longer appear at any time. The small help windows (as in the image that we have placed in the upper part) will appear at the least expected moment, which means that when we meet at the desk and we point the mouse pointer towards one of the corners, these help will appear immediately. The same happens if we go to the Start Screen (New User Interface) of Windows 8.1.

Why disable this help in Windows 8.1

Well, as we have previously suggested, the tutorial offered by Microsoft for Windows 8.1 should not appear once it is finished. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who have felt annoyed because the tutorial keeps appearing again and again even after the computer has been rebooted a few times. The great concern of many people is that this aspect seems to be part of an infection of a malicious code file, a situation that is not actually the case but rather is due to a badly completed configuration within Windows 8.1.

If you are one of the many people that this annoying situation has happened to, then we suggest that you follow the following sequential steps so that this tutorial will never appear again.

  • First of all, we must normally start a Windows 8.1 session.
  • We should not pay attention if the tutorial starts to appear unexpectedly.
  • Now we have to use the keyboard shortcut: Win + R
  • We could also go to the Home Screen.
  • In either of the two cases, we must call the following command and instruction:

gpedit.msc

With the steps we have suggested above, a new window will immediately open occupying the space on the Windows 8.1 Desktop; this window belongs to Directive Editor, you should try to navigate to a specific section to disable this tutorial.

Once the Local Group window of the Policy Editor is open, you should go to:

  • User settings.
  • Administrative templates.
  • Windows components.
  • Edge UI.

Once you are in this last area (towards the left side of the window), you should look on the right side for the instruction that will help us to permanently deactivate, the mini tutorial that usually appears at all times. To do this, we just have to locate the function that says:

Disable Help Tips.

Once we see it, we will have to double-click to bring up its properties window.

Right there this function will be shown as "disabled", You must check the box corresponding to "activated". Then we just have to close the window accepting the changes; the operating system must be restarted for them to take effect.

Now you just have to direct the mouse pointer to the different corners of the screen (on the Desktop or on the Start Screen) to see if these Tips continue to appear. Previously it is recommended that you do an operating system backup, this in the event that a bad operation could deteriorate the starting of the same.

We recommend you review the article where We suggest how to reactivate the Charm, right sidebar that generally helps us to enter the Windows 8.1 configuration, since it could have been deactivated with the initial failure whose solution we have proposed for now.
