How to return to the factory state in our Chromebook

Like any equipment that we acquire at a given moment, its configuration after a period of use will always be different from what we would have found in its original state; the Chromebook is not differentiated from these activities by the user, who usually customize them according to your interest and need.

Likewise, due to these types of modifications, the operating system of our computer could also fail, at which point we will have to return to factory state, this being the objective that we will deal with in this article but dedicated specifically to a Chromebook and under different working modalities.

Using the Powerwash feature on the Chromebook

The first alternative that we will mention is precisely this, that is, to a function that you will find as part of the operating system of a Chromebook. This requires using the Wi-Fi connection, since it will be a recovery based on the cloud what this function proposes us. In order to do so, we will only have to follow the following steps:

• We turn on our Chromebook.
• We start a Google session with the respective credentials.
• We open Chrome on the Chromebook.
• We enter the configuration.
• Now we go to the bottom of the screen.
• There we activate «show advanced options«.
• We seek the function of power wash and we select its button.
• We restart the computer.

With these simple steps we will have already returned to the factory settings on the Chromebook, so our personal data that we have configured in the beginning will be completely eliminated.

Disable Developer Mode to Reinstall Chrome Os

If you were working on your Chromebook as a developer, then you will have modified a few operating system options to work smoothly. For this type of case there is also the possibility of restoring the equipment to the factory state, only having to do the following:

• We reboot our Chromebook
• A Chrome Os verification screen will appear.
• Instead of pressing CTRL + D to jump to the patient page, we pressed the Virtual.

With this procedure Developer Mode will be disabled, the operating system installation process comes automatically after that.

The 2nd case is somewhat similar, procedures that consider normal (or conventional) operation of the equipment. But there may also be the case that it has a bad operation, coming at that time, the need to use some kind of recovery media that we have generated previously.

Force a system recovery on Chromebook

1. The Esc key.
2. The Refresh key, which is generally located on the F3 function key
3. The "power or power" button.
