Feed Burner Logo

HI premiere on feed of Assassin Vinegar. How do you say ?, What is a feed for ?, What is that RSS feed ?. Well, if you have all these doubts and you have no idea what a feed is or what it is for you are in luck because today taking advantage of the premiere of Killer Vinegar feed I will explain what this feed consists of, what it is for and how to use it.

What is an RSS feed?

Technically speaking, an RSS feed It is an RSS file written in XML that contains information related to the news, articles and comments published on a web page.
In Christian you could say that an RSS feed is a document in which you includes website information but structuring this information in a strict (formal) way so that it can be read by a feed reader.

BWell right now you may still not know what a feed is and on top of that I have added new terms that you may not know such as RSS and XML. Don't worry, let's see what a feed is for and maybe this will clarify things a bit.

What is a feed for?

An RSS file, or RSS feed serves to that a user can stay informed of the modifications that are made to a web page. This way, it is not necessary to visit the website to find out if new articles or recent comments have been added.

Subscribe button

PIt seems that now it is a little clearer, right? When a person is interested in the articles that are published, for example in a blog, but does not want to have to visit the blog every day to see if there are new articles, what that person has to do is subscribe to feed from that blog. In this way and using a feed reader that person will be able to stay informed about all the news that is published on the web pages to which they are subscribed.
SI assume that you should already know what a feed is and what it is for, so now it would be interesting to know how to subscribe, that is, to sign up for the feeds that interest you and which program to use for be able to read the feeds to which you have subscribed.

- How to read an RSS feed -

PTo be able to read the feeds you have two options. You can choose between the two or use them together according to your preferences:

- Option A: Install a feed reader program on your computer.

- Option B: Use an online feed reader, so you don't have to install anything and you can access your feeds from any computer with an Internet connection.

Shortly I will link from here a couple of tutorials in which you can see how to use a feed reader either by installing it or through the Internet.

- How to subscribe to an RSS feed -

ANow we are going to see how to subscribe to a feed and we will use the Killer Vinegar feed as an example to illustrate the subscription process to a blog or any website that allows it.

SAssuming that we have already installed a feed reader or we have registered with an online feed reader, the next thing to do is locate the area of the blog where the button to subscribe to the feed is. This option may vary from blog to blog, but it is usually an orange striped icon or a small sign with the letters RSS, ATOM or XML.

RSS Feed Icons

CAs you can see in the previous image, there are many icons that represent the feeds of a page. When you get used to these icons, you will know how to recognize any variation that you find on a website. For example the Killer Vinegar icon is blood red and not orange, but it is easily recognizable as a feed subscription icon.

UOnce we have located the subscription button we must click on it and then depending on the type of syndication that has been placed on the blog, the subscription will be made automatically or a window will open in which we will have to choose the feed reader that we want to use . In this case, after pressing the button, the subscription window of FeedBurner, which is the feed publishing service I have chosen for VinagreAssino.com. The window that opens is the following:

Feed Readers you can choose from in FeedBurner

En this window you will have to choose your feed reader by clicking on the corresponding icon (in the image inside the red box). If your feed reader does not appear, click on the arrow to see other readers and select yours. I use Bloglines and I will shortly do a tutorial on its use. If your feed reader does not appear or you simply do not want to use any, you have the option of receiving news from the blog by mail by clicking on the mail envelope icon that appears in the FeedBurner window (surrounded by a red circle in the image) .

PLastly, and following what has been said in this last paragraph, there are feed publishing services that allow, as you have seen, to receive news by mail, in this way you will not have to install or use any feed reader, just your email program. Above you have already seen how to subscribe by mail from FeedBurner, you also have this option available in VinagreAssino.com writing your email in the field that appears next to the subscription icon (top right) and then clicking on the "Send" button.

EI hope that from now on you won't miss any of the articles I publish on the blog and that you subscribe to the feeds. I will start with the manuals to install and use your favorite feed readers but in the meantime receive, as always, vinegary greetings.

Alice am glad you like it and of course you can link to it from your blog. As long as you give the references from where you use what you post you will never have any problem with any blog (if you use a license that allows it of course). Keep in mind that links are very beneficial. Greetings and thank you.

Excellent and very didactic explanation which has been very useful to me as a "blogger apprentice" and for which I allowed myself to share it on my incipient blog. I become and so declare it to be your faithful follower from now on. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. Many successes. Namaste.
