OneNote is one of the best inventions Microsoft has ever developed from which, many people have benefited due to the speed and quality that this tool represents when saving or recording different types of notes to remember.
Even though OneNote exists for a large number of platforms (like the one mentioned above for Mac), in this article we will try to mention how to work with this interesting resource from the web and also, from the Windows desktop, adopting small tricks that are worth commenting on because at a certain moment, we could download the version incompatible with our system.
Working with OneNote from the web
If we want to work with OneNote from the web, then we would be directly involving the Internet browser; if we are going to opt for this modality, then we must log in to the Microsoft account but using the browser that we have as default; This means that if on the computer we use Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari or OPera for different types of work, only in the one that is predetermined we will have to:
- Go to any of Microsoft's services (which may well be Hotmail.com).
- Log in with the respective credentials (username and password).
- From the upper left side select the small icon with the shape of a grid.
- From the options shown at the bottom, choose the one that corresponds to OneNote.
Having carried out this last action, a new browser tab will open immediately, which will correspond to the OneNote service but, linked to the credentials we have used for this Microsoft service. Right there we will have the opportunity to start creating different types of notes to place them in the respective categories; It is worth mentioning that the latter are usually shown as if they were tabs, which makes it easier for the user to quickly locate a previously saved news.
Although it is true that this method (OneNote in the Internet browser) is one of the easiest to perform, the same it could represent some slowness if we work with a large number of tabs or windows of this browser. This is the reason why many people are guided in trying to download and install the OneNote client in their version of Windows, something that we will explain below on how to carry out this process.
Working with OneNote from the Windows desktop
If we don't want to work with OneNote from the web browser, then we have an additional alternative, which is supported by a client that we can download from the official Microsoft site. All we need to do is direct us to the following link, where you will find a button colored with the message «free download«.
If you use this button eyou will be downloading the 32-bit version of OneNote, Well, according to Microsoft, this is the best alternative and the most compatible with the different Windows operating systems. If you download this little client, run it and get a compatibility error message, it could be because you may have installed 64-bit Microsoft Office on your computer.
A little further down the same window in which we suggest you to navigate previously, there is an additional option, where the link «other download options»Will allow you to get to the 64-bit version of OneNote.
When you run this client, you will receive a message in a window, where OneNote asks you to connect to its cloud service by logging in.
After a short moment, the service will connect to Microsoft's servers to try download certain files and also, what you have hosted in your OneNote account.
To do this, Microsoft will ask you for the respective access credentials, that is,, the username and password you use to log in to any of the Microsoft services; This means that if we previously used the credentials for Hotmail, these are the ones that we will have to write in the respective space.
