Computer sales for the second quarter in Spain have now become official. And as expected, this quarter has not been the best in terms of sales, with a decrease of 4,3% compared to last year. But it alleviates the drop in sales that the sector suffered in the first quarter of 2018. As usual, brands are betting on saving everything for after the summer, and once again, HP has been the leader.
HP is crowned as the best-selling computer brand in Spain. The firm has even managed to increase its sales significantly. The other side of the coin is ASUS, which has suffered a large decline in sales in Spain.
In this second quarter of 2018, 770.000 personal computers were sold in Spain. The domestic market has fallen, this time with 10,7%. While there has been an increase in the market for companies, 3,4%. We are seeing how the business market grows again.
In terms of brands, it has been HP that has emerged as the best seller. What's more, the firm does so with a 30% growth in its sales. They have managed to sell 267.000 units in the last three months, which is almost 35% of the computers sold.
Only HP and Dell have managed to increase their sales this quarter. The rest of the brands have suffered declines, with special attention to ASUS. The company has suffered a large decline and continues its free fall in this market. In this case, their sales have fallen by 58%. Bad moment when the signature passes.
The usual thing is that the second quarter of the year is quite negative in sales. Most companies reserve your forces and take out your artillery for the month of September. So for sure then we will see an increase in sales. And it will be interesting to see if someone manages to steal leadership from HP.
