How to install Android O on compatible Pixel and Nexus

Android O

A few hours ago, this year's Google I / O has ended and one of the most anticipated news at this event is the launch of the preview versions of Android. In this case, we already knew that Google O would be launched and if you want to install this new version on your device, you just have to see that it is compatible. For now there are not many compatible devices and we already know that Google usually launches the version of the operating system for their smartphones so if you have a Google Pixel, Google Pixel XL, Nexus 5X or a Nexus 6P, you are in luck, in the otherwise you will have to wait who knows how much ...

The first thing we have to do is try download and install the new version via OTA. This can be much easier than installing the version manually by flashing the device, so if you had the first developer preview version it is as simple as accessing the system settings> updates and checking that you have an update ready to be downloaded.

Otherwise if you do not have the OTA version (rare case in these compatible devices) you can wait for it to arrive or simply update the device forcibly by flashing. To do this you have to follow the steps that we leave you below but always keeping in mind that the version required to carry out this update is Android Nougat.

  • We download the image from the Google page
  • We connect the smartphone to the USB and press (on) power and vol + button
  • We open the command window on the PC and type: adb reboot bootloader followed by fastboot oem unlock
  • The bootloader will be unlocked and all your data will be erased
  • We execute the downloaded file at the beginning: flash-all

Remember that what this flashing process does is completely wipe your device leaving it without data, so it is important that you have a backup of the entire smartphone so you don't lose anything. On the other hand, if you do not have experience in the subject, the best thing you can do is wait for the OTA version and update when it arrives to avoid damage to the smartphone.
