Intel will manufacture ARM processors

ARM microprocessor

Today the annual conference for Intel developers is being held, during one of the first acts an agreement has been announced that has literally left everyone present, and even the community, with their mouths open. We are talking about the announcement made by those responsible for Intel about the fact that the company has reached a agreement with ARM to manufacture its microprocessors.

Without a doubt a 'bombshell'quite striking, especially if we consider that, for years, Intel and ARM have been rivals, something that seems to have gone into the background since SoftBank acquired ARM. As you surely know, ARM has never manufactured its own processors and SoftBank does not have the capacity to carry out this work either, so they must delegate this work to another manufacturer.

Intel will have a new opportunity in the mobile market.

Thanks to this agreement, Intel is finally very close to positioning itself as the number one manufacturer in microprocessors as long as Samsung allow it. I say this because, although the agreement between Intel and ARM is impressive, the truth is that Samsung not only manufactures its own processors and is licensed to use the ARM architecture but also produces Nvidia GPUs and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor.

Why choose Intel as a manufacturer? This decision is mainly due to Intel's technology that allows manufacturing in 10 nanometers, which together with the fact of being able to use ARM technology would allow them not only to manufacture processors for their own designs, but also for other companies such as Apple that have worked for years with Intel, a brand that is present in the entire range of MacBook and iMac computers.

On the other hand, we must bear in mind that we are facing a new opportunity for Intel to enter the mobile market. As you will remember, at the time they already tried and failed because they could not compete precisely with the ARM architecture. Undoubtedly a golden opportunity for Intel that, today, bases all its income on the manufacture of computer processors.
