In just a few weeks Tiangong-1 will fall to Earth and no one knows exactly where

Tiangong-1

For some years now we have known that officially China lost control of his space station, the Tiangong-1. As a reminder, tell you that it was precisely in early 2016 when the Chinese Space Agency confirmed something that had been rumored for months and it was nothing more than the simple fact that, after dozens of attempts, they had completely lost control of your first space station.

During this official confirmation to all interested media, it was the agency itself that put on the table a series of quite interesting data, especially in the event that it was necessary to prepare for the disaster. We are not talking about anything other than the date on which its experts predicted that the space station would finally fall to Earth, we are talking about between October 2017 and April 2018, a moment that has already arrived and about which we have new data.

impact zone

Due to the height at which any of the space stations orbit, they tend to lose height over time due to gravity

To understand a little better why Tiangong-1 is falling to Earth, it is necessary to understand that today any of the different space stations that orbit the Earth do not float indefinitely in their orbit. Because they are in an area of microgravity, they fall little by little to the Earth due to the force of attraction that this exerts. The solution is that, when their altitude drops to a certain point, the astronauts activate a propulsion system that returns the station to its orbit.

This is precisely the problem that China has had with Tiangong-1. As it became official a few years ago, apparently and at some point in March 2016, the China Space Agency tried to activate the Tiangong-1 equipment in order to carry out the necessary procedure to get the thrusters of the ship and return it to its orbit, unfortunately the connection failed which in turn meant that lose control over the ship leading us to the situation we find ourselves in today.

After a long time of waiting, in the next few weeks Tiangong-1 will fall on Earth

As you can see in the previous lines, at this point we are already within the time interval that the Chinese experts calculated for the remains of Tiangong-1 to fall to Earth. At this point, it should be noted that it has finally been the experts from the European Space Agency (ESA) who have dared to re-estimate this date, limiting it to some point between March 24 and April 9, that is, the remains of the Tiangong-1 that do not disintegrate at the entrance.

How many debris can crash into Earth? This is precisely a fact that all experts say they do not know, it must be taken into account at this point that we are talking about an object of 8,5 tons and about 10 meters long by 4 meters in diameter. At this point, it should be noted that most of the station will disintegrate in its impact against the atmosphere, however it is warned that some fragments of about 3 kilograms could fall on the surface of the Earth, which, by statistics, is most likely is that it is the sea. Until a day before it will not be known the area where the remains can fall.

Due to the 42 degree inclination of its orbit, experts predict that the debris may fall at some point where countries such as Argentina, the United States, Japan, New Zealand or Spain among others. Despite this news, experts call for calm because, according to their calculations, the chance that one of these pieces can hit you is about 10 million times less than that of being struck by lightning.
