Last Monday an asteroid almost hit the Earth without anyone knowing

Earth

We all know that the Earth, on an unstoppable journey through space orbiting the Sun, is exposed to many objects moving through space at any moment that can impact against it. It is true that many of them collide with it and others do not cause damage that can be greater and even go unnoticed depending on the size of the object itself. Now imagine what would happen if, as happened just three days ago, a 34 meter wide asteroid was about to hit our planet.

Although it seems more typical of a science fiction film than anything else, the truth is that the asteroid that serves as an example so far if it was about to hit the Earth, specifically it passed at a distance from it similar to the half the distance between the Earth and the Moon. As expected, NASA has not been slow to baptize this asteroid with the name of 2017 AG13.

An asteroid 34 meters in diameter almost hit Earth last Monday.

According to experts, if this particular asteroid had hit Earth, it would have released an energy equivalent to about twelve nuclear bombs like the one the United States set off in Hiroshima. Keep in mind that we are talking about a mass of about 15 x 34 meters that was moving towards our planet at about 16 kilometers per second. Much more worrying is that this asteroid was not discovered until Saturday afternoon.

According to NASA's statements, it seems that if the asteroid had hit Earth, it would have exploded before touching the surface Of the same. The effect of this explosion would cause a rather remarkable shock wave, although not of such a magnitude as that caused by the supposed asteroid that killed the dinosaurs.

Don't let the little detail that it came within "only" 200.000 kilometers (roughly half the Earth-Moon distance) spoil some shocking news for you.

Sadly, there are people who are not aware, gil that is our planet, in the vastness of the cosmo.
