Lyric T6R, we tested Honeywell's connected thermostat

Our homes are getting smarterThe mobile phone accompanies us wherever we go, so improving the performance of our domestic appliances thanks to our smartphone is an alternative that all the specialists in demotics, home and well-being are looking at quite well. The popular Honeywell, a firm with many years of experience and the approval of experts, could not be missing from this list of products.

This is how we have been able to access the Lyric T6R, the smart thermostat that Honeywell makes available to everyone and that will allow you to gain comfort and save on energy consumption. Let's take a look at this product so you can learn more about its strengths and weaknesses.

As always, we are going to address all the details that a gadget lover should consider for a product of this size, from construction to ease of installation, use and quality of application. To carry out this analysis we have been testing Honeywell's Lyric T6R thermostat for more than a month, with more than satisfactory results. We go there with the details of the product.

Honeywell T6R Technical Features

The product, like all those built by Honeywell, includes an easy-to-install system and packaging that fully accompanies the brand that gives it its name. Mainly We must highlight the Lyric T6R these characteristics:

  • Color touch screen station
  • Geolocated activation / deactivation control (geo fencing)
  • Weekly schedule levels
  • Holiday mode
  • Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Compatibility with basic, mixed and modulating boilers

The thermostat has its own thermometer, so each of the T6Rs that we place in the home will work in a different way. In our case we have tested an individual unit that exhibits an accuracy in the total temperature, we have not found any margin of error. In the same way, the Wi-Fi and RF connectivity does not present interferences, it has more than enough quality antennas to work at home without collective problems.

Design and materials of the T6R station

Honeywell does not sin in any way in the construction of this type of device. It is made entirely of plastic, something that in this type of product is appreciated for its tendency to prolonged use. In the same way we find a resistive touch screen with basic coloring and more than enough to know all the data that affect the environmental management of our home. Without a doubt, the base station is a success.

In turn, it is connected through a network transformer, perhaps including an alternative with rechargeable or mobile batteries (cordless phone style) would not have hurt, although we imagine that Honeywell is trying to keep the system always connected and avoid configuration problems.

The station itself will allow us to control all the aforementioned parameters and will serve as a point of connection between our mobile phone and our boiler. Honeywell undoubtedly does a detailed job again in this section, the station looks good in any home and gives us all the information we need at a glance. In our case we have tested the T6R edition which is wireless, although they also have a wall version, the T6 version.

Installation of the receiver base and connection to the boiler

As we have said on other occasions, precisely another of the points where Honeywell usually stands out is precisely the ease when installing and configuring its products. In our case, we have received a Honeywell installer who in less than 40 minutes had everything ready and working, but we have followed the installation process very closely and it is extremely simple. We can choose four types of installation depending on our present system or our needs:

  • Basic boilers
  • Combined boilers
  • Modulating boilers
  • Two-way systems (V4043)

In our case we have installed it in a Saunier Duval boiler system, fully compatible with the Honeywell system, simplement following the installation scheme we connected the cables with the help of a screwdriver and the base was already working. This base is the one that we are going to place next to the boiler and it has two operation indicator LEDs and a button. The LEDs will warn us if the boiler is operating as well as the availability of the Wi-Fi network, while the button will allow us to directly turn off the boiler in a few seconds. This device allows us a variety of positions and does not require excessive delay in its management.

Setting up the T6R with our phone

The steps are extremely simple, just taking advantage of the Lyric mobile application, proprietary to Honeywell and which is used to manage all your demotic products at a glance, both the T6R, the Lyric C1 camera system and the water leak detector system that we have analyzed here. The application is completely free and has endless customization possibilities.

We simply use the option to add a new device and follow the instructions that will include the code that shows our Lyric T6R base and pairing it with the new Wi-Fi network that we are going to use to work with the intelligent system.

The application works really well, its effectiveness is extremely surprising, from the fingerprint protection system (to prevent them from accessing our cameras) as well as the possibility of programming and changing the operation of our boiler on site. The application is what makes sense of the product portfolio, Honeywell knows this well and that is why it has worked to make it work efficiently and quickly. You will not need introductions, it is intuitive and the user interface is pleasant as well as efficient. It is undoubtedly one of the strengths of the product.

It is clear that the range of products that Honeywell makes available to us makes more sense when we add different devices, however, I must say that we are facing one of the most efficient and intuitive boiler air conditioning management systems that I have been able to test. Nothing like the ease of taking advantage of geo fencing so that the boiler turns on only when we are at home, as well as the possibility of adding different users to the management of the products. Definitely, we have found a well-finished product that manages to unify the best of each brand into a definitive product, which obviously has a price, but which is the perfect companion in the family home. You can get itfrom € 199,99 in THIS LINK from Amazon, or go directly to the Honeywell page.

Pros

  • Materials and design
  • Company app
