In the middle of last year 2017, Microsoft surprised the general public with the presentation of its particular vision of what a smart thermostat should be. Of that vision GLAS was born, a beautiful team that feeds on the company's virtual assistant (Cortana) so that the user can use it for more things than proposing the temperature you want in your home.
Perhaps the most popular thermostat in this connected equipment industry is Nest "Owned by Google for a while." Being able to regulate the temperature of your house just by saying it out loud or from your mobile is something that many dreamed of. And with Microsoft GLAS comes another very interesting option, not so much for price, but for functions as for design.
Since its presentation back in July 2017, nothing had been said about its sale price or when we could get hold of a unit. Today we can confirm both price and release date. The first thing is that it could be yours for $ 319 (almost 270 euros to change). And the second: the first units will be shipped from next March.
If we compare the price with the Nest thermostat, the Microsoft GLAS loses out. And is that the popular model costs 249 euros. Meanwhile, this new Microsoft GLAS will not only be able to handle it from the mobile or tabletsBut the user will be able to tell him through voice commands, what temperature he wants in his house.
GLAS has a touch screen, so you will also have the option to interact with the smart thermostat to know the current humidity, the weather forecast for the next few days or what the air quality is. Also, another of the functions that you can do with Microsoft GLAS that Nest will not provide you is to act as a virtual assistant to know your calendar appointments or, for example, know first-hand how the traffic is at those times.
